Competitive markets, demanding clients, and global markets present new challenges and new opportunities to many of today’s law firms. These firms must be dedicated to providing the range of skills and experience needed to succeed in this environment. A key area needed to maintain its strategic focus and organizational depth is that of strong leadership. Leadership is the ability to seize opportunities and lead people and firms to greatness. Organizational effectiveness depends upon the ability of managers to lead others as well as promote a work environment that fosters cooperation, teamwork and high performance. Wolf Management Consultants will assist you in developing and enhancing the capabilities of leaders in your firm through a customized leadership development program.
We offer a leading-edge learning opportunity designed to build and sharpen the global business leadership skills within your firm’s future or current leaders. This unique, highly customized, program explores the essence of leadership skills and behaviors needed in the competitive global business environment – a must for the ongoing strength of your law firm. The program is driven by business needs; specifically, it is designed to enhance the capabilities within future and current leaders to ensure the continued success of the firm.
In The Leadership Challenge, researchers Jim Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner describe leadership as a very “disciplined passion” -- full of excitement and fun but, also, exhausting, stressful, and rigorous. John Maxwell in Developing the Leader Within You states simply that leadership is influence. Both agree that there is a difference between management and leadership. Management is about assuring that the objectives of the firm are achieved. Leadership has to do with setting direction and motivating people.
It is with these fundamental beliefs in mind that drives the overall philosophy of our Leadership Program for attorneys:
Good leaders can become even better ones through the proper use of experiences, education, training, and coaching. Therefore the program design that we recommend addresses leadership development through a combination of facilitated learning, individual learning, on-the-job application, and one-on-one coaching.
All learning experiences will incorporate both experiential and traditional learning models. We believe participants learn best when they experience and practice new skills.
Coaching sessions take place during and after the training. A quality coaching relationship will encourage effective use and further development of the business development skills taught in the program. Coaches also help attorneys to develop skills of self-observation, self-awareness, self-responsibility and self-mastery. These skills allow the leaders to continue to grow long after the coaching relationship ends. Studies have shown that training and coaching increased productivity by 88%, a significantly greater gain compared to training alone.
