By building customized programs
that connect the leadership development program to organizational
priorities and by applying a balance of action and reflection we
are successful in helping to create breakthroughs in personal and
group leadership, and in having participants produce immediate,
measurable results through breakthrough projects.
Leadership development efforts need to focus on a set of relevant
results to justify the investment of an organization's valuable
time and money. Before committing to a program we meet with the
leadership to make sure that we can create a strong connection between
the program's results and the needs of the business. Only when we
are mutually assured of this will the program go forward. The leadership
plays the role of a results management team with whom we meet during
the program to assess progress and value being generated, and to
decide necessary adjustments.
Typically, our program features three group work sessions four
to six weeks apart and project coaching between sessions. Each participant
creates two breakthrough projects; a personal project designed to
address a developmental leadership isuue they are facing and a project
designed to impact an important business issue in the area in which
they work. The group as a whole also creates a small number of impactful
group projects with a larger organizational scope. The latter are
approved by the results management team who become sponsors for
those projects.
Results, both qualitative and quantitative, are presented to the
leadership at the end of the program and - it is reasonable to expect
that the value created from the results will more than pay for the
program.
