STEVE ALBRECHT, PHR, CPP
As a trainer, speaker, author, and consultant, Dr.
Steve Albrecht is internationally recognized for his
expertise in high-risk HR issues. He specializes in
training seminars, corrective coaching, and threat
assessment consulting services in workplace violence
prevention, drug and alcohol awareness for managers
and supervisors, conflict resolution, anger mastery,
stress management, and facility site security.
In 1994, Dr. Albrecht co-wrote Ticking
Bombs: Defusing Violence in the Workplace,
one of the first nationally published business books
on workplace violence. In addition to his work as
a conference presenter and keynote speaker, he appears
frequently on TV, radio, print, and on the Internet,
as a source on workplace violence, school violence,
homeland and corporate security, and terrorism issues.
His 14 books include Added Value Negotiating;
Service, Service, Service!; and
Fear and Violence on the Job.
Dr. Albrecht holds a B.A. in English, an M.A. in Security
Management, and a doctoral degree in Business Administration
(D.B.A.). He has been a trainer for over 17 years
and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources
(PHR) by the Society for Human Resource Management;
a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) by the American
Society for Industrial Security; and he is a Board
Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress (BCETS) by the
American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. He
has received over 48 hours training in Critical Incident
Stress Debriefing (CISD) and is also a Certified Hypnotherapist.
In 1999, Dr. Albrecht retired from the San Diego Police
Department where he had worked since 1984, both as
a full-time officer and later as a reserve sergeant.
For six years, he worked part-time as an investigator
in the Domestic Violence Unit and handled over 1,500
cases. His police books include Contact
& Cover; Streetwork; and
Surviving Street Patrol.
Dr. Albrecht is a Course Leader for the American Management
Association, teaching negotiation, supervision, and
critical thinking. He is an adjunct professor for
Criminal Justice at Chapman University. He serves
as the elected National Secretary for the Association
of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and is a
founding member of the San Diego County District Attorney’s
Stalking Case Assessment Team.
His clients include: Boeing, Blockbuster Video, Barney
& Barney Insurance, Buck Knives, Children’s
Hospital, Petco, San Diego State University, the National
Institute of Occupational Safety & Health, numerous
law offices, California school districts, law enforcement
agencies, city and county government, and the U.S.
Department of Homeland Security.
