Rochelle Moulton, MBAROCHELLE M. MOULTON, MBA

Rochelle Moulton is a master consultant to service firms and the people who lead them. She has spent her career building highly successful service businesses—both as an inside leader and as an external consultant. Her core belief: building sustainable client relationships creates healthy businesses.

Rochelle has started up or led consulting and client relationship management (CRM) functions for Towers Perrin, Arthur Andersen and Spherion. Along the way, she started three companies, including Qwest Consultants which she sold to a global powerhouse. This combination of big-firm savvy and entrepreneurial moxie means she can quickly assess issues and work effectively with star performers and diverse teams.

Her forte is professional branding: translating the DNA of consultants and leaders into compelling stories, actions and visuals that propel sales and deepen client relationships. She works with individuals and teams to build powerful professional brands to generate high quality referrals and command premium fees.

Rochelle’s consulting experience runs the gamut from growth strategies to making gut-wrenching change work:

  • Transforming an executive outplacement business into a consulting practice. This included shutting down unprofitable office operations; transforming an office-based business to a web-based model; and introducing new consulting practices. After 18 months, a $4 million loss was transformed into a $400,000 profit.
  • Upgrading and developing a transactional sales force to a more consultative model. Average account manager sales increased by almost 50% in the first year.
  • Positioning and branding a new leadership development practice for an employee communications firm. Two weeks after revamping key messages and proposal pitches, they sold a $200,000 proposal which formed the base of the new practice.
  • Repositioning a design firm to serve only legal and consulting clients large enough to engage a marketing director. Proposal acceptance rate increased to 75% from 30% in three months by focusing on "sweet-spot" opportunities.
  • Spinning off the architectural and engineering arm of a telecommunications company to create an independent, profitable business. Worked with the business partners and executive team to develop a consultative culture from a corporate administrative function. Taught consulting and client service skills to architects, engineers and designers which led to "A" ratings from their key client and a profitable first year.
  • Spinning off the services arm of a major hospital into a for-profit entity. Led an employee team of 10 and worked with the CEO and Chairman to successfully launch the business with a consultative culture and financial focus.
  • Leading three spin-offs of technology functions from a major airline. Led spin-off team and worked with senior leadership on people issues including culture, team functions and compensation. After initial launch, revenues profitably grew 20% per year with consistently 80th percentile or better employee satisfaction.
  • Developing consulting and sales skills of pre-partner managers and senior managers for a tax practice. Increased account penetration by over 25% and created a high performing team of account and relationship builders.
  • Creating a development and retention program for women partners in a tax practice. Through culture analysis, senior leadership support, mentoring and coaching, improved turnover of pre-partners by 15% over 18 months.
  • Working with individual consultants and practice leaders to build brand and grow client relationships in a variety of specialties, including accounting, communications, coaching, design, financial advisory, human resources, operations, sales, strategy, tax and technology. Her clients include professionals across the country as well as in the United Kingdom.

Rochelle has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Central Connecticut State University. She is also Birkman®certified.

On a personal note, she has spent much time in Europe and is familiar with European business customs.
