PAUL M. SANCHEZ, ABC, APR

Paul Sanchez, a Mercer Worldwide Partner, recently retired following a career that spanned more than twenty five years in consulting. At Mercer, Paul was the global practice director of employee research which focused on Employee Engagement studies and consulting for clients. Prior to this assignment, he was European practice leader for Communication and Organization Research and Effectiveness, based in London, UK from 2001 until late 2005.

Before joining Mercer, Paul was executive vice president and general manager of California’s largest independent full-service marketing and communications firm. Before moving to California, Paul was associate practice director for the human capital group at another consulting firm for 15 years, where he also served as global director for the communication and education practice and established its employee research business.
Client work has been a hall mark of Paul's duties, even while managing large consulting practices. His consulting work has centered on improving the working relationships between organizations and their workforces.

From the assessment of the working environment to the development of research based solutions, Paul is a skilled Human Resources strategist and also an experienced group facilitator and trainer. His international work experiences provide Paul with a solid and informed background for advising client organizations on the complexities of employee engagement, organizational communication and change management.

He has worked with leading organizations in around the world such as American Express, Barclays, Chase, EDS, PepsiCo, Pfizer, MetLife, Nordstrom, Royal Dutch Shell, Saudi Aramco, Southwest Airlines, Taco Bell, Scripps Health, Textron, University of California System and many others.

Paul has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in organizational communications. He also completed the Advance Management program at the Harvard Business School. Paul is accredited by both the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and the Public Relations Society of America. He is the past chair, Board of Trustees, of IABC’s Research Foundation and is a past director IABC International Board. Paul is a member of the Advisory Council, College of Communications, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. While in the United Kingdom, Paul was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Manufacturing.

He is the author of Transformation Communication, published by IABC, and is a frequent conference speaker and contributor to publications dealing with human resource issues, employee research and organization communication.
